Pet Palooza 2009

My first Pet Palooza has come and gone. Compared to my first Bark in the Park event  I was very impressed. It could be that Bark in the Bark was hot, over commercialized and under-whelming, or it could be that Pet Palooza was a step above. Yes, Pet Palooza was commercial as well, but I found it to be much lower key and more oriented toward the main goal of raising funds for a good cause. As you can see, even the dogs were more relaxed.

The Fido Fashion Show was interesting in that it consisted of an entire wedding party. Tuxes, wedding dresses, and even the inappropriately dressed uncle everyone knows and loves. The full party, including the beautiful bride can be seen in the fashion show gallery.

The highlight for me of course was checking out the scenery around the event. Photos from our walk around the park can be found here.

The Humane Society of Charlotte and many hard working volunteers made this all possible. Please help a worthy cause if you can by donating.

Grand opening of the new location of All Wags Doggie Day Care and Boarding

This upcoming Saturday the 16th I will have a table setup and will be taking photographs at the grand opening of the new location of All Wags Doggie Daycare and Boarding. The grand opening runs from 10AM - 4PM and is located at 670 Griffith Rd., Charlotte, NC. Animal Rescue and WSOC-103.7 will be there and activities will include a cookout and doggie playtime.

Hopefully I'll be able to make the park later that afternoon, otherwise I'll have some 'splaining to do to Misty and Matt. As some of you know Lisa is out of town this week and they are full steam ahead looking for some entertainment.

Bark In The Park Is Dog Gone

Well, my first Bark in the Park has come and gone. Chalk it up to the hot weather and lack of shade (having 2 huskies does not help) and the rampant barrage of  things to buy and I believe I will be staying at the dog park for next years event. My expectations my have been high, but it did not feel like the social event for dogs and their owners that I was expecting. There was some highlights. There were some demonstrations by a professional trainer and her dogs that intrigued me enough that I may seek out events like that in the future, but unless they make some drastic changes for next year I'll hang out with the buds at the park.

I did hang around to get some photos, but unfortunately,  like the event at large I was mainly disappointed with them as well. There are a few with dogs hanging in mid air and such that bring a chuckle so all is not lost. The photos I did post can be seen here

While the day was mildly disappointing, I did manage to make it over to the after Bark party at the Dog Bar in Noda. While only my second time there I'm already starting to feel like a regular. I had to leave a little early as Misty had a long day and was getting a bit grumpy, but I'm already looking forward to a return trip. Pictures of that evening are here.

See ya at the park.

Bark In The Park

I hope to see you all out at Bark In The Park this year. This will be my first year going and I'm looking forward to getting some great action shoots during the events and competitions. All this of course occurring after Misty and Matt get their park time in the morning.

I'm also hoping to be at the Dog Bar that evening. I'm told it's quite the party there after this event.
